Information about Jack

I`m an approachable tutor with a background in professional teaching. After graduating from Durham University in 2017 with a 2:1 in Politics and Economics I went on to gain a PGCE in History at the University of Oxford. Since then I have been teaching History and Politics from Year 7 - A-level and have loved the opportunity to share my passion in these subjects and help students from a variety of backgrounds reach their potential. I`m going back into education this year to complete a Master`s in Public Policy but want to continue helping students achieve their goals whilst I undertake this further study.

Having worked with a huge range of students I believe I am able to provide a bespoke tutoring service that is friendly and accessible yet effective.

I aim to quickly build trust with my students and encourage confidence in them. I want students to feel comfortable and at ease so they are able to discuss their ideas and develop their understanding of history or politics.

I combine this approach with close attention to detail to the syllabus and exam requirements, creating a individualised course of study for each student that fits their needs.

I also aim to be rigorous in the feedback I give students; student progression relies heavily on responsive teaching and accessible feedback. My range of experience means I am able to provide this to all students.

Experience: Over the last 3 years I have taught as a History specialist at a secondary school in Oxfordshire, covering both GCSE and A-level courses and have since been working as History and Politics A-level teacher in North London. I have worked with a huge range of students in terms of ability, background and age and have developed techniques to ensure all can succeed. I also have experience in preparing students for Oxbridge applications - I have specific experience in preparing for the HAT and TSA entry exams. I received my initial teacher training (ITT) at the University of Oxford which has a reputation as one of the finest ITT institutions in the country.
