Information about Chloe

I am a Mathematics tutor aiming to gain a student sitting the Higher GCSE paper or taking Mathematics A level ability who I can push from a good grade to achieving the top grades.

I am in my final year of University in Bath. Last year I studied abroad in Grenoble, France so I am able to express myself in French as well as English but would only teach Mathematics in my native tongue.

Tuition has been part of my life for the better part of 7 years and is not only how I support myself but something I am very passionate about. I remember all my students aspirations and details about their lives and I am very keen to help them achieve specific and attainable goals rather than just pushing for exam results that are as high as possible.

What makes me unique is that I encourage students to think independently and pick apart a problem rather than teaching a method and helping them reach an answer. I ask thought provoking questions and try my best to deliver lessons in a style that suits their learning - for instance colours and diagrams or more kinetic activities such as matching or moving in physical space. One example of this would be teaching Upper and Lower Bounds by examining the available area to install a new kitchen. Applications to real-life contexts are important and I always have an answer to "but I`ll never need this in daily life, why do we learn it?"

Availability: I am a university student studying MMath at the University of Bath, therefore my availability is the daytime at the weekends or weekday evenings. Looking to tutor for one-two hour(s) per week.

I am extremely motivated to make a measurable difference and am only interested in students who are willing to put in the time including homework. I will individually plan each week`s work based on perceived weak areas or gaps in knowledge and the best way to view this information is in tuition sessions followed by homework completed after the lesson to check retention.

Willing to travel: 1 miles

Experience: I have worked at Kip McGrath Nottingham South branch for 7 years, tutoring Mathematics from Primary to A level abilities. Over time I became their deputy head of Mathematics and had the responsibility of creating new resources to suit the new challenge in the 1-9 of Problem Solving.

I have also completed two internships at DoodleMaths, working in their curriculum department to extend their question database to include mastery content. Doubling the content in the Times Tables App was one of my major achievements. Some of the new "concept explanations" which served as a help guide for each topic were designed and executed by myself which gave me a greater insight into producing resources for differentiated abilities.

I have taken one previous private tutee from a potential grade 7 at GCSE to a solid grade 9 by reverting to basics and re-thinking the process of analysing information to improve accuracy and understanding. I am currently working with a student in year 9 who I hope will gain confidence from our sessions by consolidating school work and paying particular attention to maintaining previous primary-level knowledge.

Chloe is an excellent tutor. She appreciates that the student understands problems in different ways and adjusts her delivery to accommodate this. Chloe comes prepared for every session and gives work to reinforce what was worked on in the session.

Chloe tutored my son through GCSE Maths and his first year of A level Maths. I would not hesitate in recommending her. She is always well prepared, the lessons are well planned and her explanations are clear and understandable. She is encouraging and helps build confidence.
