Information about Woody
A highly experienced tutor specialising in university admissions papers (MAT, STEP and TMUA) as well as Maths and Further Maths A-Levels. I am a fully qualified teacher with 10+ years teaching in some of London`s highest achieving schools, including King`s Maths School, which has the best A-Level maths results in the UK.
Oxford University graduate with masters from King`s College London.
I am the founder of Mathematics with Woody, a website providing complete online maths courses that cover the full A-Level maths course made up of hundreds of video lessons, quizzes and practice tests. All students I tutor are given free access to all courses.
My approach to tutoring aims to develop confidence and fluency, but also promote deeper understanding and enjoyment of maths at all levels. I bring enthusiasm, years of experience and a genuine love of maths to my work, and have a track record of helping students exceed expectations and predicted grades.
I am also a part-time musician (cello, guitar and singing with my band) and a keen long-distance cyclist (recently completing a London to Istanbul ride).
Availability: I now teach part-time in the classroom, so have plenty of day-time availability. I have some evening/weekend availability, but this usually gets booked up very quickly.

Experience: 10 years experience teaching in top-performing UK schools. 12 years experience as a tutor with over 3000 hours of one-to-one tutoring taught.
A-level:
Detailed knowledge of Maths and Further maths courses across all major exam boards. I have taught the full A-Level course many times, and Further Maths modules in Pure, Mechanics, Statistics and Decision across Edexcel, OCR, AQA and MEI exams boards. Teaching experience from King`s Maths School, whose Maths and Further Maths A-Level results make it the best performing state sixth form college in the country.
GCSE:
Extensive knowledge of GCSE, IGCSE, AQA GCSE Further Maths and OCR FSMQ. I was Head of GCSE Maths for four years at Wren Academy, whose GCSE Maths results place it in the top 10 nationally for progress, and have many years experience tutoring students on a one-to-one basis.
University Entrance Papers:
Experience preparing students for entrance papers at top UK universities, including the MAT, STEP and TMUA papers for Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Warwick, Imperial, etc.

Woody is a gifted tutor of maths and we were so lucky to find him. He inspired my daughter to work her hardest and she really enjoyed using his careful clues and guidance to work through what seemed impossible maths problems in preparation for her MAT test. He could make her think she could do it whilst not being unrealistic and getting on with the job of thinking hard about maths.

[from a tutee] Woody was an excellent tutor, who helped me prepare for my Maths A-level (Edexcel 2019) between February and June. He had an excellent knowledge of the specification and so could offer me advice on how to prepare tailored specifically for the exam I was taking. Not only were the sessions massively productive and useful (he wrote notes as we talked, allowing me to recap what we had gone over later) they were also genuinely enjoyable and engaging. With a topic by topic approach, we covered everything I was unsure about before the exam, also going over past paper questions I had struggled with towards the end. I ended up receiving a high A in my Maths A-level (my target grade), going up from the low B I had received in my mocks only 4 months prior. I would highly recommend Woody as a tutor to anyone who wants to build up their confidence and fluidity in maths leading up to an exam.
