My first encounter with teaching was via voluntary work with adults requiring basic literacy skills. As well as being hugely rewarding, this experience highlighted the importance of a calm, reassuring, sensitive approach, based on mutual respect, and I believe I have carried this through to teaching students of all ages.

Lessons will be based on the student`s individual needs, with reference to the course or specification being followed at school or college. Wherever possible, the student`s own interests will be incorporated into the lessons: for example, in a practice writing task or material studied to enhance skills in reading and understanding.

Availability: Monday to Friday, during or after school hours.

Experience: I am a fully qualified English teacher. I taught English to students at KS3, GCSE and A level at a secondary school for thirteen years and taught at an FE college for five years, on the English GCSE, A level and Access courses. I am also qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language and have gained experience in this while recently living in Switzerland.
