I`m a highly experienced and enthusiastic English teacher. Having worked in an `outstanding` comprehensive school for 20 years, I have now retired from full-time teaching. I`m also an examiner for AQA and therefore have an invaluable insight into the assessment criteria of exam boards and a clear understanding of mark schemes. In 2019, I was graded Excellent by AQA for my overall performance as an examiner.

Availability: I`m available most afternoons or early evenings apart from weekends.

Experience: Judged an `outstanding` teacher, I have over 20 years experience of teaching English at KS3, KS4 and KS5. My expertise is GCSE and A Level and I have successfully taught the current syllabus at both levels. Five students in the last GCSE group I taught at school achieved grade 9s which is well above the national average. I also have considerable experience of teaching support groups at GCSE.
Since I started private tutoring, my A Level student achieved a B (up two grades from a D) in the English Literature resit. My GCSE students have also done extremely well; in both English Language and Literature most students have improved at least two grades from either their mock or predicted marks.
