Information about Sofia

Economics, maths and statistics tutor with 9 years’ experience.

Having studied economics from GCSE level to post-graduate level I have the first-hand experience of what is necessary to successfully pass exams. I have a 1st class degree in economics, a master’s degree in economics and I am currently doing a Ph.D.

I have experience tutoring at GCSE level, A-level, International Baccalaureate and undergraduate level. As well as economics I tutor statistics and maths. I started tutoring fellow students whilst I was doing the International Baccalaureate in France aged 19 and carried on tutoring economics students throughout my university studies.

I have spent the last 2 years teaching economics, excel and statistics to undergraduate students at the University of Bath. I really enjoy helping people learn and achieve their full potential. During my career as a tutor, I have helped students improve their test scores significantly. I’ve had students improve their grades from C to A and I have helped students that previously failed their exams, gain enough confidence and knowledge to pass their exams.

I adapt my teaching style to each student as I recognize we all learn differently, however, I always try to help students start to think like economists. I begin by establishing my students` knowledge of the topic, what they understand and what they find challenging. I then help students build a strong foundation by making sure they understand the key economic principles and core models.
Economics can be challenging but I also believe it can be made fun by applying the theory to everyday relatable examples. I find once it clicks, economics can be made extremely enjoyable.
