Hello. I`ve had a break from tutoring for a while now but I`m really looking forward to getting back to it. So if you need some help with AQA Sociology A level, please do get in touch with me.


I also teach GCSE English so if you need help with your AQA GCSE English Language course, I can help you with that. Please note that I teach English Language, but not English Literature.

Availability: I prefer lessons to be online these days because it saves a lot of time wasting with travel. However if you are local to me then we could meet up with your parent/guardian in a public place - to initially say hello and to talk about the help which you feel you need. I am usually quite flexible in terms of availability.

I am considering “Instant Tutoring” as well, so if you think that might be helpful then we can discuss that when you make an enquiry.

Experience: I taught Sociology for 20 years until quite recently and I was an examiner as well. It is a great pity, I think, that the subject isn’t usually taught in school because it helps young people to understand so much about diversity and social issues such as inequality in our society and to consider different explanations, as well as providing an introduction to research methods.

During the week I am fortunate in being able to work part-time now in a London sixth form College where I teach English GCSE (I decided to do this for a bit of a change because 20 years teaching the same subject is a very long time!).

But even though I don’t actually teach Sociology now, I have lots of time to keep up to date with it and I still have access to lots of resources and the AQA website and wonderful colleagues who still teach it!

In many ways, I think I am a better Sociology tutor simply because I’m not teaching it all day long and then tutoring the same subject - tutoring Sociology is really quite refreshing for me!
