Information about Francesca

My qualifications: PhD Business (Scholarship), MA Marketing (Dist), BSc Business Economics (1st).

I am a 47 years old and Italian native from Rome. I have left Italy in my late 20`s and lived/ worked in different countries (Ireland, Spain, France, Netherlands, Mexico and Canada).

I have completed my PhD 2 years ago, for which I was awarded a full scholarship. My credentials can be easily checked online.

I am also a mother, a social entrepreneur and a animals/ outdoor enthusiast among other things.

At the moment I am working as a part-time lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and find ideal to supplement my income through private tutoring.

Availability: I am usually available for sessions at my place on weekdays. My current availability for Sept 2016 up to February 2017 is as follow:

Monday 10am-4pm
Tuesday 10am-7pm
Wednesday 2pm-8pm
Thursday not available
Friday 3pm-8pm

I can only be available at week-ends in exceptional circumnstances (eg. any urgent assignment/exam/revision) and the hourly fees for weekend sessions is +25% than the standard rate.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I`ve always found teaching a refreshing and stimulating activity for the mind and I am incredibly satisfied when I see my students achieving their goals.

I have a wide and long time teaching experience in both private, university and companies enviroinment.

During the last 30 years I have been involved with different roles which have challenged and strenghten my tutoring skills and my ability to adapt to the style of different learners.

Every learner is different and my knowledge of different learning/teaching styles is usually the key to make progress as even the hardest topic can be easier to grasp if explained in the style required by your own particular learner.

I am a friendly and cheerful person and my Italian accent is usually well received. I like to transmit my passion for learning to my students.

My approach to teaching is to have fun with it as much as possible. Students often get bored so I usually prefer to diversify the topics as much as possible by studying the same topic from different angles using a variety of sources.

I also like to bring things to life through role playing and plenty of practical examples.

I challenge students to think for themselves and question what they learn: I believe this factor is a major contributor to memorisation and recall.

Adapting to the particular style of learning of each of my students requires to have a (free) preliminary chat where we discuss and clarify the main objectives, problems, habits, likes and dislikes: in this way I can better help and plan for the sessions and the teaching ahead.

5/5 Rating

I have recently started a part time foundation degree in management and was a little worried as i had not studied for many years. Francesca totally put me at ease and explains everything so clearly. She is an expert in her field and gave me brilliant advice and was also very proactive in checking my work and giving advice by email and text when needed. I would highly recommend Francesca as a tutor.
