Andrea

Hello, my name is Andrea. I am Scottish and currently studying Law at the University of Aberdeen. I have teaching skills in the arts, humanities and social science areas of education, with a specific focus on tutoring Business studies, English, Modern studies and Politics. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, mooting, as well as a variety of sports. I have over 4 years experience of working alongside young people with additional learning needs and the age ranges I have taught vary from early education i.e. primary, through to those of secondary/collage age.

Due to having qualifications from the curriculum for excellence, I have a good understanding of it`s aims and try to focus on these throughout tuition. I also have recent experience and examples of assignments, essays and coursework that merits a grade A standard.

Availability: I tutor during weekdays, weekends and evenings.

I charge £25 per hour. I can travel to my student`s houses at a cost of 25p/mile. I take pride in my flexible approach, however I ask that 24 hours notice is given when cancelling so that I can offer the appointment to another student. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the lesson is chargeable in full.

Experience: I have been tutoring for over four years. My experience has given me the skills to adapt my teaching individually for students from a range of backgrounds and abilities. Due to still being in education myself, I remain very passionate about learning but can also understand the prevailing challenges/pressures. In this way, I can see the common link between confidence and achievement.

The backbench of my teaching is to always remind the individual that they have ability, are in control and provide core revision techniques to help them exercise these qualities. My father always told me that “if you enjoy something, you will always be good at it” and although not entirely accurate, I can sense a great deal of truth within this statement. By ensuring an interesting teaching experience, I believe that the individual is more likely to develop, hence, improve their confidence and overall ability.
