Emily has had a long career in education even before qualifying as a teacher and gaining her Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2014.
In 2004, as a student with Kumon Maths she obtained a paid part-time position as an Instructor’s Assistant. In this position she worked with the lower ability children to improve Math’s skills. The ages ranged from 5 – 16 years old.
In 2007, Emily obtained a place at Winchester University studying for a B.A Hons in History. During this time, she studied:

Emily then followed on her studies and went on to do her master’s degree at Winchester. Specialising in:

Alongside this she wrote a thesis on: The Actions and Reactions against the Spanish in England during the reign of Mary I.

In 2011 Emily worked at Quilley School of Engineering (11-16) as a Cover Supervisor and unqualified English and Maths teacher. She taught across the key stages and developed a teaching specialism in teaching SEND pupils, including ASD and ADHD children. It was during this time that she was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

In 2013 Emily started her PGCE Secondary History (11-18) at Canterbury Christ Church University. Completing placements at Cornwallis Academy and Maidstone Grammar School. She graduated top of her cohort and was awarded with a university award for Creative Teaching.

She completed her NQT year at De Stafford School in Caterham and was mentioned in the school’s Ofsted report when the school was moved up to ‘Good’. During her time at De Stafford (2014-2018) she taught across the WJEC and EdExcel exam board. Modules covered include Medicine in Britain, c1250–present, Early Elizabethan England, 1558–88, Crime and Punishment 1500 – Present Day, Germany in Transition, 1919-1939, Superpower relations and the Cold War, 1941–91 and The American West, c1835–c1895.

She was promoted to Head of History and Politics at Teddington School in 2018, where she taught up to A-Level securing outstanding results for her students. During the COVID-19 pandemic she honed her skills for online teaching and got outstanding feedback from pupils and parents alike. During her time at Teddington (2018 – 2022) she taught A-Level History and politics with AQA and GCSE History with Edexcel. Modules covered include Challenge and transformation: Britain, c1851–1964, France in Revolution, 1774–1815, The USA, 1954–75: conflict at home and abroad.

Emily is passionate about learning, has in depth subject knowledge and a strong reputation for delivering engaging and meaningful lessons. Emily has the skill to differentiate subject content across the key stages, adapted to all pupil’s needs and abilities. Emily is also qualified in Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language.
