I am a Primary trained Teacher working for Sheffield city council. I am also a mum of three. I began to tutor in 2013, after extending my family. Since then, I have built up my tutoring business and have now moved into an office space to enable me to fit in more students. As a result I can now offer tutoring from £15 an hour with 3/4 students in a group & £20 with 2 in a group. I also provide 1-1 @ £25

My students receive a bespoke lesson plan, tailored to suit their needs, in line with the new curriculum. I focus on grammar, phonics, comprehension, spellings & handwritig in English dependent on the student. For Math I focus on key skills: improving mental maths & written methods, for all four operations, utilising fun computer games specialised for teaching. On assessment I identify the key skills my students need to develop, then feed these into the bespoke planning. Often the children contribute too, asking for help in a specific area they would like help with. I find that most children I work with can work independently, at times. This is why I believe that small group works. If a child needs 1-1 then this is usually due to age or an extra need. I have worked with children who have dyslexia at differing levels, some needing 1-1. I can also provide 1-1 if this is required.

Special needs: I have found that children who are struggling, due to a learning difficulty, require a different approach. These children need input on a specific skill daily. My job is then to provide the extra teaching input and advice parents of the skill that needs focusing on that week. This gives parents the extra support & advice they need to help move their child forward.

I find tutoring a different way of working. It is very rewarding when you get the opportunity to increase a child`s confidence and see them reach their full potential.

Experience: I began my career in education as a Teaching Assistant in a Secondary school math department for 2 year Supporting and boosting children`s achievements.

I then moved to a Primary School for a further 2 year, again specialising in booster sessions and covering teacher absences.

I have mainly covered English, Math and Phonics, in the Primary setting. However I also worked with students studying for their GCSEs in Math and English. Highlighting the level I can work to.

After completing my Teacher Training in 2009 I taught mainly in Junior schools, covering all year groups. I have worked with Y6 to boost their levels in Math and English as part of a whole school team, after school.

I have also boosted Y2 before SATs tests.

Throughout my career I have worked across the board, teaching in Primary, from foundation to Y6 during my time as a TA and a Qualified Teacher.

I love teaching and find it a very rewarding career
