I am passionate about my subject, Classics, and enjoy the challenge of making the language and literature of the Greeks and Romans accessible and enjoyable to young people today. I am married with two children, now adults, and enjoy playing golf, watching rugby and listening to music, not least my son`s band, Bear`s Den.

Availability: I am available most afternoons and early evenings, except for Wednesdays in the Oxford term. My preferred method of tutoring is Skype and receiving written work electronically, which I have found works well and produces good results.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have degrees from Glasgow and Oxford universities and taught for 9 years at Harrow School, then 26 years at St Paul`s, where I was Head of Classics for 13 years. I also teach at Trinity College, Oxford, one day a week as a college lecturer in Classics. I have considerable experience of private tuition at all levels from CE to university entrance.
