I am an experienced qualified teacher and have been the head of the maths department that I currently work at in a leading sixth form college. I started tutoring when I stepped down as course leader and now regularly tutor students in addition to my work as a part time maths teacher.

Availability: Currently I am fully booked for 2024-2025.

I prefer to have most of my lessons online and as long as the student has a tablet and a stylus, online lessons work extremely well.
Face to face lessons can be delivered at my home or if you live locally I can travel to you for an extra charge per lesson.

Experience: I have been teaching in a sixth form college for the past 17 years. My main expertise is raising attainment for A level Maths but I also offer help for the following:

High school students studying for GCSE Maths or level 2 Further Maths.

Sixth form students who are retaking their GCSE in Maths.

Prospective A level students who require some preparatory work before starting on an A level Maths course.

I have a track record of excellent results in GCSE, A level and Core Maths. I am also an examiner for Edexcel for A level Mathematics and I know where students are likely to lose marks and how to increase their grades by improving their exam technique and by building their confidence.

Sessions will be 60 mins, 1 to 1 online. The first session is usually having a chat about what you want out of the sessions, explain the tech and set an initial schedule. In that first session I usually do a little assessment on what the student can do right now and that helps me to plan for future sessions on how I can move you up to the level you want to be at.

Typically, a session will involve a combination of:
-you completing some questions to assess for strengths and area that require focus. We will do this on an online whiteboard software so that I can watch, comment and annotate as you go along.

-you send me some work prior to the online lesson and we go over this in our session.

-Me modelling specific questions on the online whiteboard, then you trying.

My support is not just limited to the one hour lesson and students should feel they can ask questions in between sessions and I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible. This is all part of the service.


For Parents: I want you to feel confident that the support is working and encourage you to keep in touch and offer suggestions and advice on how to get the best for your child. I will probably have a chat with you every couple of months to give you an update on how lessons are going.
