Information about Sandra
I love listening, laughing and literature. I have been teaching for 45 years, most recently as a college Vice-Principal in North London. Semi-retired, I am now looking forward to tutoring GCSE, A level and university students online or near my home in West Sussex.
An avid theatre goer and voracious reader, I hold an honours degree from Sussex University, together with an MA in Victorian Literature from the University of Liverpool and a PGCE from Reading University.
My teaching is bespoke; I listen to what my student understands and move forward from there, looking initially at the words on the page rather than seeking literary techniques. This approach demystifies the text, giving the student a level of confidence which manifests itself in the exam room and leads to good grades.

After a couple of poor GCSE mock exams, my daughter had lost a lot of confidence in both English Language and Literature. But then along came Sandra.... In a short period of time, she reignited my daughter`s interest in the subject helping her to really understand the emotions and ideas behind the texts. Sandra gave her the courage to express her thoughts, explore depper meanings and - most importantly - enjoy all that English has to offer. Now as my daughter sits her final exams with her last English paper approaching this week, she feels confident and prepared to give it her all. Whatever the final result may be, we know that Sandra has helped her to acheive her very best. We are grateful for her support.
