I am a kind, outgoing and open individual. As a fully qualified teacher I seek progression and education for young people. I have an outstanding education (1st (1:1) Class Molecular Biology Degree - Oxford Brookes University) coupled with experience in the Life Sciences. As a Fully Qualified Teacher of Science, I am passionate about sharing scientific insight and developing scientific curiosity with students and supporting young people in attaining good qualifications for their future.

During my career to date, I have undertaken various positions in my Schooling Community. These include; (i) Teaching & Learning Leader of KS5 A-Level Biology, and (ii) Mentor for Trainee Teachers under the Milton Keynes Teach First/Schools Direct PGCE University Programme(s).

Availability: Weekday evenings and weekends. I am able to commute to your location.

Experience: I have 7 years experience as a Secondary School Science Teacher and YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO AMPLE RESOURCES, PERSONAL LEARNING CHECKLISTS, POWERPOINTS AND EXPERIENCE. I teach all scientific disciplines at KS3 and KS4 and Biology at KS5. I am highly competent in relating to young people in contemporary education. I have the essential experiences and skills required to help challenge and overcome the multifarious learning barriers young people may face during their science education.
I am aware that the GCSE Science curriculum has a high content and there can be insufficient school time available for students to fully understand core concepts within the Sciences. I help students to understand the key concepts of Science and then guide students to practise applying them to new contexts.

I start by reviewing students’ schoolwork, homework, school tests and personal understanding of their course to identify key areas to work on to improve performance and bolster confidence, self-esteem and promote resilience. My approach supports students in developing thinking skills and problem-solving which is an important part of succeeding. I also teach revision and exam techniques, where the understanding of concepts helps to make revision more effective. I am also available in the lead-up to exam time when extra support is needed for exam practise.

Together we can then determine what specific areas the prospective tutee needs assistance in. Once target areas have been established, I will use the syllabus, reference texts, past papers and a range of resources to apply my own knowledge and skills to improve the tutee`s grades.

I understand that different people learn in different ways, and will use the technique that works best for the tutee. The teaching approach can be personalised for specific individuals, a major advantage of one to one tutoring.
