Oxford educated English and Maths Tutor

I`m a highly experienced English and Maths GCSE tutor. I also assist with IGCSE and resits. I have been working as a tutor for over fifteen years.

As well as being a graduate of Oxford University, I`m an examiner for Cambridge board at GCSE and IGCSE. I have worked with the top tuition agencies in the UK and also several internationally.

I take a highly structured approach to teaching English Language and Literature. I find that most students are shaky in the basics of grammar, sentence construction, analytical and creative writing. I run a program which begins with an eight week basic training to address all of the core issues. Once students have the requisite skill set, we then advance to the more subtle areas of the course. This approach allows students to progress with a much greater sense of control and certainty. Nothing remains vague, we approach English in a methodical way to ensure clarity.

This has proven a highly successful strategy over the years with students averaging between a one or two grade increase within three-to-four months.

In addition to my work with students in a one-to-one capacity, I have also produced a successful training course and written a textbook for the English Language GCSE.

On the maths side, I specialise in assisting foundation tier students, resit students and intermediate level students aiming for 6s and 7s.

Experience: I have 15 years of experience in preparing pupils for national exams. I`m also a Cambridge board examiner.

I`m a member of the National Tutors` Association and work with the top tuition industries in the UK as well as my own cohort.

On average, students undertaking a course of tuition of six months or longer with me have seen an increase of two grades. Even for students only undertaking tuition for a couple of months it is common to see at least a grade increase. As tuition is my chosen profession, it has been great to see many pupils succeed in their exams and often surpass their own expectations as well as those of their parents and teachers. Bringing out a pupil`s potential is the most rewarding aspect of being a tutor.
