Steven

Hi. My name is Steven and I am from Northern Ireland but have lived in worked in London for almost 4 years. I am passionate about teaching and about providing a fun, supportive and engaging environment where children learn to recognise their strengths and become confident learners. I currently teach Year 1 but have experience across all age primary ranges and can also support with tutoring for some secondary subjects such as Geography and History. I am flexible and happy to host or travel while also offering digital tutoring during the current pandemic. This would be accompanied by a Google classroom set up to provide constant engagement with any children that I tutor.

I truly believe I can make learning fun for any child and help them to achieve their goals.

Availability: Available weekday evenings after 5pm and weekends during term time. Throughout school holidays I am free to tutor most days and flexible with timings.

During the current pandemic I am happy to tutor via zoom and set up a Google classroom for children or meet under socially distant conditions.

Experience: I graduated with a BEd Degree in Primary Education fr Stranmillis University College with first class honours. Since completing my degree I have taught full time in a four form entry primary school, teaching Year 1 and 3. During my 4 year degree I taught across all range groups and have a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum. I am also in the final month of my Masters degree in Literacy learning and Literacy Learning Difficulties which has given me a wealth of knowledge in delivering high quality literacy lessons to support struggling learners. During my full time teaching job, I work with children of all abilities and tailor my teaching to match specific needs and have helped many children make accelerated progress in their learning. I also have experience in using active teaching strategies to enhance motivation and have completed research in raising attainment and motivation in reading. I can confidently develop a rapport with children and pride myself in offering personalised and engaging lessons. I also hold A* and A grade in Geography and History respectively at A level and can tutor secondary learners in experiencing success in these subjects.
