I study History at the University of Oxford, where I am a Nielsen Scholar. Like most people, I found preparing for exams and university admissions a daunting process. I personally benefitted from private tutors throughout school, and I’m keen to help others where possible. For the past few years, I have tutored several students in History and English. Additionally, I have worked as a mentor to students trying to gain admission to Oxford. Specifically, I was a volunteer mentor for the organisation UniPear, which works to aid underprivileged or marginalised Oxford applicants.

Availability: I am available any time and day of the week!

Experience: I have tutored many students in English, History, and Art History, both at GCSE and A- Level. I also did the SAT Subject Tests in US History, World History, and Biology, and have experience tutoring those as well. Equally, I am available to help with the university admissions process. I have advised several students with their Oxbridge applications, as well as with the Oxford History Aptitude Test.

In terms of tutorial style, I have gained a lot from the Socratic method used at Oxford, and very much focus on individualised learning styles. In my opinion, the primary benefit of tutoring is that your tutor should be able to adapt to your style of teaching, and not vice versa! Additionally, I think lively dialogue and debate are important to strengthen argumentation style and critical thinking skills. I also hope to bring enthusiasm and energy to my tutoring. Most importantly, I think prioritising a sound understanding of examination requirements and mark schemes is vital.
