Information about Danny
Hi, I`m Danny! I tutor GCSE Maths, A-level and AS Maths (Edexcel 9MA0 / 8MA0) and A-level and AS Physics (AQA 7407 / 7408), with a focus on exam technique and building confidence with tricky topics.
I`ve recently finished a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, and before that I got a First-Class MSci in Physics at UCL. My PhD also leaned heavily on maths for data analysis, so I`ve used these subjects well beyond the exam hall. I still remember very clearly what it`s like sitting in front of an exam question with no idea where to start, and that`s what I try to help with most.
My sessions are built around past paper questions. A few days before each lesson I`ll send over questions on a topic of your choice. You have a go if you can (even one or two is great), then we work through them together, looking at how you approach them, where marks tend to slip, and how examiners want answers laid out.
I attempt every question myself beforehand, so after each session you`ll get my written model solutions to keep. Some students like to try everything first, others prefer me to lead them through a new topic before they tackle it alone. Either is completely fine; the sessions are there to work for you.

Experience: I`ve worked with students at different stages, from those building confidence in a subject they find difficult to those aiming for top grades, and often with mocks or final exams coming up fast. I take on students both privately and through a tutoring agency, and I adapt each session to where the student is and what they need most.
During my PhD in Biochemistry at Oxford, I supervised undergraduate and master`s students in the lab, including marking their lab work and giving feedback. That experience taught me a lot about explaining ideas clearly and spotting where someone`s understanding has gone off track, which I bring into every tutoring session.
