Hello!

My name is Alex, and I`m a 33 year-old B.Sc. (Hons.) graduate in German and International Business from Aston University in Birmingham.

I started learning German when I was 11 and have gone through GCSE, A-Level and a Bachelor`s undergraduate degree as well as having lived and worked in Germany and Austria for a number of large, international companies.

I am able to help with tutoring in both German and Business Studies to complement school lessons, to focus on intensive pre-exam study as well as to enhance general written/ reading/ spoken language skills, and I keep myself up-to-date on both the English and Scottish school syllabi.

Having gone through the UK education system of GCSE and AS/ A-Level, I have the knowledge and know-how of how to teach German as a foreign language; this lets me understand how best to convey the concepts of written and spoken German (as well as the complicated German grammar system) to those who are approaching the language from a non- native background.

For non-school students who may wish to start (or continue) their German language journey, I tailor my approach to their requirements, for example, by focusing on written and spoken skills for the business environment, or simply to help them reach a decent conversational level.

I am also able to hold group sessions on behalf of corporate companies or simply for groups of friends or families wishing to expand their German knowledge.

Each session is tailored to the individual or group in question and I spend a considerable amount of time in planning to ensure that they are interesting, fun and interactive; drawing on the vast bank of resources I have built up during my time tutoring.

My teaching style is very informal and laid-back as I have found, through experience, that this is the best way of ensuring learners achieve their true potential, whatever their age or ability. I hope my reviews are testament to this, so please feel free to read them below.

I truly enjoy tutoring and the greatest satisfaction I can receive (apart from the financial benefit, which of course, is helpful!) is seeing people expand their knowledge and gain confidence over their time learning with me.

My diary is flexible and I am willing to travel in and around the Glasgow area as well as to conduct lessons from my home, where I have a dedicated study. For those living further afield, I also offer lessons via Tutorful`s virtual online classroom (which, during the Coronavirus pandemic, has proven to be an extremely effective method of teaching and learning alike). I would advise anyone who is sceptical of online distance- learning via the online virtual classroom to give it a try at least once before they discount its effectiveness!
