Information about Rohan

I have been tutoring students formally for two years now, and have accumilated over 200 hours of tutoring experience helping students of different ages and different subjects achieve their potential.
As a Natural Sciences student at UCL, I study both Physics and Chemistry. It is this nature of learning different subjects that has caused me to adapt to learn from the many different teaching styles from the different subjects and lecturers alike. As a result of this exposure to so many different ways of learning, my own teaching style is varied and adaptable. I teach each student differently, catering to their different styles of learning and changing how I express the content in order to ensure that they learn the content thoroughly.

Experience: My enthusiasm for teaching has been shown throughout my school years where, as part of the Creativity Action Service initiative set up by Warwick University, I supported GCSE maths and chemistry students, aiding the teacher in the classroom aspects of their learning and ensuring practical’s were carried out safely and properly.
As an ambassador for the sciences, I aided in chemistry support sessions for my own year at the time (AS students), helping those that were having difficulties grasping specific parts of the subject.
Another aspect of my role as science ambassador was writing articles for the biology newsletter on various topics. In this, I had to research the science behind many phenomena and communicate them in such a way that the science would be not only understood by the year seven`s upwards, but also be enjoyable to read by all year groups. It is this passionate and interdisciplinary thinking that has enabled me to not only understand the topics at hand, but also communicate them in an effective manner to students of different abilities.
I find teaching a very hands-on thing and will teach content from the very basics to ensure that any student I work with has the foundation of knowledge that can be then used to understand the more difficult content that is to come, and apply that knowledge to the different contexts that come up in exams.
