Information about Tim
I am an experienced and enthusiastic, fully qualified Mathematics teacher based near Guildford. For the past five years I have been teaching at one of the top performing state comprehensive schools in the South of England, rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
I studied at Oxford University where I achieved a First Class Degree in Metallurgy and Science of Materials. After a successful 25 year career in Financial Services, I changed tack and completed a PGCE in Mathematics at the University of Chichester.
As I still work within a school, I am fully up to date on current curriculum changes, particularly with regard to the new 9-1 Mathematics GCSE content and the new A-Level specifications. I have experience teaching a variety of students with a range of different abilities at KS3, GCSE and A-Level, achieving a 100% success record for all my students.
I am passionate about my subject, inspiring pupils to make excellent progress and achieve their full potential. My approach is to achieve understanding - the lightbulb moments - and to reinforce understanding through practise, helping my students develop confidence in the way they tackle mathematics. Every student is different and so I tailor my teaching style to suit their individual needs.
I am available in person or online. During lockdown, I continued to deliver lessons to students via Zoom and this worked extremely well.

Feedback For Tim (1)
Feedback from pupil age 12- Good at explaining things, understands what it is that I dont understand. Tim is professional and established a relationship with my son very quickly (which is not easy as hes very shy). He is proactive in seeking the problem and has targeted the issues very effectively. My son is already feeling more confident and is far less stressed during school lessons when he doesnt understand something, as he knows he can take it to his lesson with Tim.
