Information about Peter
Dr Peter has over twenty years experience of teaching degree level material one to one with students, in small groups and to groups of one or two hundred students, and experience of tutoring A-level. An undergraduate degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Bristol, PhD in Molecular Modelling from the University of Essex, and A-levels in Applied Maths and Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, and Pure and further pure Maths (grades BAAA, respectively - A was the top grade at the time). He has experience teaching students at the Universities of Essex, Bayreuth, Heidelberg and Birmingham and he tutored many of his own peer group during his A-levels.
His teaching has been praised by undergraduate students. Tutees that he has mentored have consistently been in the top 10 students of their year group. During his training at the University of Birmingham he completed the Associate in Learning and Teaching in HE for Staff Portfolio for which he received the prize for excellence for his cohort.
At degree level he has taught linear algebra, computational techniques in drug discovery, quantitative skills for bioscientists, chemical kinetics, protein structure and evolution, enzyme kinetics, essay writing technique, critical analysis and experimental design (for molecular biology). He has supervised or co-supervised 5 students to completion of their PhD research and many more students research projects at undergraduate and masters level.
Dr Peter is offering tuition at degree level in the areas of: chemical kinetics; protein structure, function and evolution, essay writing skills (with a focus on biochemistry). At A-level he is offering tuition in A-level maths, including statistics, and physical chemistry.
