Information about Jaimee
Hello! I am a friendly Biology tutor with a Bachelor`s degree in Biology from The University of Nottingham and a Master`s degree in Neuroscience from King`s College London. As a recent student myself, I understand the challenges of revision and exams. I can provide clear, engaging online tutoring sessions that cover any topic on your GCSE or A-level Biology syllabus. Let me know your exam board and I will walk you through challenging topics, setting goals as we go and learning how to answer those tricky exam questions.
Availability: I offer after school sessions on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as well as weekend sessions.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: After completing my A-levels in Biology, Psychology and Geography, I began my undergraduate degree in Biology at The University of Nottingham in 2015. Throughout my degree I covered a range of biological topics in-depth and so, have a solid understanding of the field. During this time I became a Biology parent for the universitys Biology society, where I mentored and tutored first year students helping them to understand topics that they struggled to grasp. I graduated in 2018 with an upper second class degree (2:1) in Biology BSc (Hons).
In the autumn of 2018, I embarked on a masters degree in Neuroscience at Kings College London. Here, I also carried out my own research project in the lab working on Motor Neurone Disease and Dementia. This also involved teaching other undergraduate students new lab techniques and providing supervision.
I graduated with a Distinction in my masters degree in November 2020 and now work as a Brain Bank Research Technician at the London Neurodegenerative Diseases Brain Bank at Kings College London. I help to provide high-quality tissue donations to the neuroscience community, which is absolutely crucial in driving breakthroughs in scientific research.
Through my experiences in academia and science research, I hold great value in the power of education. I have previously enjoyed tutoring other students, friends and family members and I would now like to support others in obtaining their GCSE and A-Level Biology qualifications. I know that the Covid-19 pandemic has created many more challenges for education, but I believe that no-one should be left behind and with a little extra help, students can always fulfil their potential and reach their goals!
