Hello, my name is Oscar. I am a Liberal Arts student at Durham University studying Classics and German. I have a long held interest in language teaching.
I achieved 11 GCSE`s including grade 9s in Latin, French, German, Ancient History, English Language, English Literature, RS and Physics. I went on to achieve A* at A-level in Latin, Classical Civilisation and German, and an A in Philosophy.
I did a TEFL qualification in the summer of 2025 and passed all the modules with high scores on assessment. During my TEFL course I undertook teaching practice in a number of settings which included video teaching.

My interests are languages and cultures, politics, philosophy and the classical world. I have studied Ancient Greek and Italian as extra-curricular activities during my education, and enjoy developing new language skills by chatting with native language speakers in person or online.

Experience: Having studied languages at GCSE and A-level, and now continuing Latin and German at degree level, I have a thorough understanding of effective language learning methods. I can explain difficult aspects of grammar and can help you understand the process of Latin or German to English translation. I have experience of mentoring students in language studies, particularly helping them with grammar and speaking confidence. I have an excellent understanding of what is needed to achieve high grades at GCSE, with a comprehensive knowledge of the GCSE language curriculum.
In my lessons we will identify where there are gaps in your knowledge and understanding, and focus attention on these areas with exercises and GCSE practice papers, and I will provide you with tips for improvement and regular feedback.
