Information about Katie

I am currently a second year student reading biology at Somerville College, Oxford University on the 4 year MBiol course. I achieved A* grades in Biology, Maths and Geography at A-level, along with my EPQ which I also achieved full-marks in, whilst studying at Reigate Grammar School Sixth Form with an academic scholarship. Additionally, I achieved 10 A.9 grades at GCSE level including further maths (All GCSEs taken June 2018 except Maths which I took a year early in 2017, achieving 98% over the two papers). I am passionate about tutoring and have loved seeing the progress my students have made through our time together, achieving their aspirational marks and generally gaining confidence in their academic abilities.

Availability: I am a university student with a flexible time table so am happy to discuss times with my students as to when works best for the both of us on an individual basis.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have been a tutor for approximately 3 years, tutoring 4 students across GCSE and A levels A* grades in both maths and biology including human biology BTEC, I have also tutored A* GCSE standard across a range of subjects as a trackmate tutor at Reigate Grammar School and foundation maths and GCSE geography as a self-employed tutor through Superprof. I have gained a lot of experience as tutor working with students to achieve different aims, from excelling to a very high standard and reaching top A* grades, to more basic levels of understanding, helping students who find maths and biology particularly challenging, with aims of passing foundation papers at GCSE. This range of different abilities and ages has helped me develop as a tutor, gaining a lot of confidence in my methodologies and learning what different techniques work more effectively with different students.
