I read English at Downing College, Cambridge, where I wrote two first-class dissertations on nineteenth-century literature.

I now teach English Language and Literature to students aged eleven and above. When I am not teaching, I illustrate artists` books and run an independent press.

I offer lessons in English Literature and English Language for GCSE, A-Level and IB.

As a tutor, I take a well-rounded approach to education. I support students to achieve top grades in their coursework and examinations but I also introduce them to a wide range of literature and encourage extra-curricular reading. I have found that, with this approach, students tend to do very well indeed. They frequently surpass their predicted grades by at least one grade boundary whilst developing intelligent thought and a lasting appreciation of literature.

Availability: Weekdays after 4 pm
Saturdays 8 am - 12 pm
Sundays 4pm - 7 pm

Experience: I have over seven years of experience teaching students from primary school through to higher education. I have worked as an English teacher, a private tutor and, when at university, as a student mentor.

I have a great deal of experience teaching GCSE and A-Level English Langauge and Literature. I also support students with their applications to university: from giving advice on subject choices and universities to taking them through the application process and personal statement to conducting mock interviews.
