I am a former Head of Music in secondary education and have 13 years of experience. I am an energetic and engaging teacher who builds very strong rapports with all my students. I am passionate about raising standards in both GCSE and A level music and can help you in all areas of the subject including the study of set works, composition, including Sibelius, and performance.

In all departments I have lead, there has been a marked improvement in grades achieved by students. In my previous school, GCSE grades in Music were 90% A* - C rising from 47% 5 years previously, under the old GCSE marking bands.

Having taught years 4 - 13, I fully recognise the process of learning and can help younger students with skills to ensure that they are fully equipped for higher levels of music as they reach GCSE, A level music and even university.

I offer tutoring for the following:
GCSE and A level, including support with theory, set works, composition, performance
Music theory
Composition including Sibelius

Availability: During the week, evenings from 6pm. Some flexibility for lessons during the day.

Experience: I have 13 years of experience as a Head of Music in both independent and comprehensive schools. I have also taught piano to grade 8 as well as voice encompassing both classical and modern styles.
I have been an A level examiner in composition.
