Information about Edward
Former grammar school head of English. I am patient, calm and able to explain concepts and ideas clearly to students of all abilities. I can plan sessions to respond to your specific needs and I am willing to be flexible with timings.
My style combines high expectations of hard work with gentle reassurance and a sense of humour. My colleagues and students have commented on my sincerity and authenticity, both in my love of English and genuine belief in the capability of all my students. I strive to make English seem less scary and confusing, bringing it to life with relatable analogies and explanations.
I am based in Lincoln and happy to tutor from home, online, or travel to your home if possible.
I look forward to meeting you and arranging a session soon.
Availability: Available after school, evenings and weekends.

Experience: Former grammar school head of English. I have a first class honours degree in English from Royal Holloway University of London. I have been a secondary teacher for six years teaching GCSE language and literature as well as A-Level. I specialise in Shakespeare, Jekyll and Hyde, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Power and Conflict anthology. Having taught in grammar and comprehensive schools, I can teach both high achievers and those looking to secure a pass. I have also tutored my step-daughter at KS2 primary age during Covid lockdowns, so I have some experience adapting to teaching older primary aged students.
