I am the holder of a first class English degree and I am a literacy specialist and a highly skilled and adaptable teacher of English Language and Literature from Key Stage 3 to A Level.

I have also worked as a Head of Key of Key Stage 5 and Literacy coordinator in a successful English department.

My success rate for GCSE English Language is above the national average and I have a proven track record with students of all abilities.

GCSE resits are a speciality of mine and I have an excellent track record of results with Key Stage 5 GCSE students. When I lead GCSE resits for English at my previous school, the results for our resit cohort were among the best in Liverpool.

In addition, 100% of my last A Level English Language cohort all met or exceeded their target grades, enabling them to gain admission into their first choice, red brick universities.

My tutoring provides a personalised learning experience that works for the student and enables them to make real progress. I give students plenty of experience with exam papers and mark schemes, working closely with the exam board specification so students know exactly how to achieve in that subject. I also create a range of stimulating resources to boost confidence and engagement. I also monitor the progress of every student closely and ensure that they have a good toolkit of strategies in place in order to succeed.

I know how important it is to give relevant, detailed feedback and I always make sure that students have a very clear idea of how they are doing and how they can stretch themselves further.

I have marked GCSE and A Level English Language for AQA and have worked with that exam board for a number of years with both Language and Literature. I have also taught Eduqas and I am an accredited teacher for Cambridge iGCSE.

As a holder of a first class degree, I have also supported students in higher education by helping to proofread and prepare dissertations and other academic papers.

My keen interest in modern languages has enhanced my knowledge of grammar and technical aspects of English. More and more exams expect detailed language analysis and this is something I can help you prepare for.
