Information about Lucy
I have been a self-employed tutor, workshop facilitator and mentor for the last seven years. I have a First Class BA (Hons) in Creative Writing and Journalism and an MFA (Distinction) in Creative Writing, specialising in poetry. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE). As part of this qualification I taught creative writing to undergraduates for the academic year 2012-2013, and have also supervised at postgraduate level.I am a widely published writer, poet and walking artist. My work has been featured in The Guardian and on BBC Radio 4, and is taught as part of the Open University MA in Creative Writing.

Availability: After school Mon/Wed/Thurs from 4-8pm and Saturday mornings from 9am - midday.
Other times may be possible - please contact me to discuss. All tutoring is currently offered online via Zoom due to Covid.

Experience: I have experience of tutoring for AS English Literature, GCSE English Language and Literature, SATs booster sessions for KS2 Year 6 pupils, and tutoring for KS3 literacy. I have experience of tutoring for 13+ Common Entrance English examinations. I supervised a postgraduate students MFA in Creative Writing dissertation at Kingston University. I tutor privately and in schools, on a one-to-one and small group basis.
I am patient and friendly and will tailor sessions to meet the individual needs and requirements of each student, at whatever level they are studying at. This could mean a focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar, essay writing or reading comprehension and text analysis. I am also aware of the importance of exam skills and the difference these can make in attaining grades, particularly for GCSE and A levels.
