My name is Ben, I am a fully qualified professional teacher. I have a first class Masters` degree in Mathematics from Aberystwyth University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Sussex.

As of 2019 I have decided to leave main stream teaching to set up my own business as a personal tutor. I now focus solely on tutoring which gives me more time, energy and resources to dedicate to my clients.

I like to combine my formal pedagogical insights with the relaxed atmosphere of a home environment and a conversational delivery. My tutoring is friendly and un-intimidating but comes with all the resources and techniques that one would expect from a school classroom.

In our first session we will devise a learning plan, perhaps diagnosing areas of weakness or referencing a scheme of work for a particular qualification.

I like to spend a few minutes at the start of a session doing a `warm up` activity, a game or a riddle or suchlike, and a few minutes at the end to review what we have learnt and consult our learning plan.

I generally like to confine my learning steps to one session, and with most topics we can build a solid confidence within an hour. I do however consider it important to get to the root of any particular areas of weakness and spend time focusing on different ways to approach a problem.

Experience: I have been tutoring since 2014, and teaching since 2016. I teach a range of age groups from years 7 to 12, specialising with the applied modules in A-Level. I have experience teaching the Further Maths A-Level as well. I have also worked with several adults wishing to further their mathematical understanding, either for a professional qualification or just for their own curiosity.
