I am a working primary school teacher who enjoys the chance to work in small groups or on an individual basis in maths and english.

As a teacher working predominantly within year 4, 5 and 6 classes, I understand first-hand how difficult it is to give each child in the class the attention that individual needs, and thus how important a personal tutor can be. I am very familiar with the requirements of the current maths and english curriculum and what areas are often problematic for students to get to grips with, as well as breaking down particular mathematical methods and strategies a student`s school may use.

I also work with children with English as an additional language, and provide tailored tuition in phonics, grammar and spelling.

I am a great believer in making maths accessible and relevant, and I like to emphasise the importance of repeated practice in mathematical methodology and committing times-tables to memory.

Availability: I tutor Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5.30pm onwards, and fortnightly Saturday mornings between 10am and 1pm.

Experience: I have been a qualified primary school teacher for three years. I am a graduate of the inaugural School Direct teacher-training scheme and have worked for two years in schools in Hackney as a year 4 and 5 teacher. More recently I have worked as an intervention and cover teacher in Islington, Enfield and Brent with a focus again in years 4, 5 and 6 and SAT preparation.
