Information about Alan
I am a Mechanical Engineer who qualified from Plymouth university with a 2:1 honours.
I have a lot of experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Physics and am familiar with all exam boards. My experience as a Mechanical Engineer provides me with a unique ability to teach these subjects as they are something I have studied in detail and practise daily. I have many students who I have helped achieved grade 7 or higher at GCSE and A-B level at A level.
My usual approach to tutoring is examination focused, which includes fine tuning knowledge and examination technique. I also go in depth into specific areas of subjects to improve the depth of the students knowledge where it is needed.
Both students and parents have been very happy with my approach to tutoring. I greatly enjoy the confidence my students gain after our lessons.

Our son has recently started Physics tutoring with Alan to prep for GCSE Physics. He is finding the lessons helpful. Alan has been very organised and seems knowledgeable about the exam requirements and specification. He has provided us with feedback and is working flexibly to meet our son`s needs. We are very happy with his approach and the progress that is being made.

Alan was great, he took me on last minute a couple weeks before my university "Quantitative Methods and Analytics" exam that contained quite a bit of A-Level maths and a little university level maths too. As someone who didn`t do maths at A-Level, jumping straight to A-level maths statistics was difficult to do and difficult to get my head around in such a small amount of time, but Alan was clear and concise throughout our lessons and ensured I had a huge amount support as I was revising alone as well. He was always well prepared and had good resources at hand. Can`t thank him enough!

Alan is a great teacher, well structured and clear. He is calm and put you at ease. My daughter is gaining confidence with her Maths - A level - and is enjoying the lessons. I highly recommend Alan.
