I am experienced Head of Mathematics in a school in Essex. I am currently on adoption leave so am offering tuition and can accommodate during the day/evening lessons. I am passionate about raising the attainment and confidence of the pupils I teach and tutor. I graduated from the University of Manchester with a 2.1 bachelors of science degree. Since then I have over ten years experience in teaching Key Stage Three, Four and Five mathematics to pupils aged 11 to 18 years old. I believe that all pupils are able to achieve in maths if the tasks are correctly differentiated and with a focus on a problem solving approach. I prepare personalised lessons by first ascertaining the areas in mathematics where the pupil has gaps in. Then through demonstration of key concepts and rectifying any misconceptions that pupils may have, we then progress onto different topics in mathematics. This builds the pupil’s confidence and after they feel they are able to attempt exam style questions which I go through with them in a step by step manner. This creates a concrete knowledge and increases problem solving skills for pupils which they will use in their maths lessons, exams and in life.
