Information about Takashi

I am a medical student at Barts and The London SMD pursuing both a medical degree and a BSc in Medical Education as my intercalated year (2013-2014).

I will be able to teach biology, chemistry, physics and maths, and also I can teach Japanese as this is my first language.

Furthermore, I am willing to assist with applications to medical school, including how to write a personal statement, extra-curricular activities advice and teachings for entrance examinations such as UKCAT and BMAT.

I promise professionalism in my teaching, and I can teach in different formats.

Availability: I will work flexibly to the best of my ability and schedule. I will be available most evenings minus Wednesday. I am also available on weekends, mostly Saturdays.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: My intercalated year in Medical Education provided me with knowledge regarding theories behind teaching and learning, and teaching methods and teaching skills. For the latter, I have received formal training in various different formats, including small group teaching, lecturing and facilitation of PBL (Problem Based Learning). I also have experience in formal education as a facilitator of a group practical session in one of the SSC (Student-Selected Component) of an academic year which allows medical students to diversify in their interests.

My extra-curricular activities illustrate my intrinsic motivation for teaching. I currently voluntarily teach clinical skills to first year students in the medical school, and have passed an audition to do revision lectures. Furthermore, I, alongside my colleagues, have been involved in a scheme to assist sixth form students into medical school applications.
