Information about Karan

I am currently an MPhil candidate (Genomics) at the University of Cambridge. I graduated in 2016 with a first class degree in Biomedical Sciences (BSC Hons) from Queen Mary University of London. Since then I have worked in science PR and communication, in the city of London.

I have a passion for science and knack for communicating complicated concepts in simplistic terms. This means I`m able to help students see the bigger picture and unlock potential that they seldom are aware they have inside of them. Fundamentally, my approach is in line with the scientific method; I will endeavour to help them understand how science works and how it applies to their schooling/ examination syllabus.

I am a calm and considered person who is patient with students. I like to discuss their challenges, understand their worries/ concerns and address them one-by-one. This, I find, is the most effective approach and allows for a personalised, bespoke tutoring experience.

Availability: I`m available 8am until 10pm everyday (subject to change)

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I started supporting the learning of younger students back at school from the age of 16. I would voluntarily help with language lessons (French and Italian) and give private science tutorials to my peers who were struggling with understanding concepts. I then did one-to-one, private tutoring throughout the first two years of university (Italian, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths). My greatest success story was a girl who struggled with biology, who then went on to get an A* grade at GCSE (from an average C grade in mock tests). I have once again started tutoring because it is a pleasure to engage students and feed their nascent passions.
