Information about Hussain

I’m an experienced tutor, with 6 years of tutoring experience of all kinds, at varying levels. I studied University of Bath, and have completed both new specification exams (GCSE and A-Level), and old ones and so have plenty of practice when it comes to tackling all sorts of problems that exam papers offer!

To me, defeating any tricky exam is a process of a few steps:

Know the facts.
This is the first and most obvious step in doing well. Whether it’s a geography, physics, history or maths exam, factual recall is the basis of getting good marks.

Apply the understanding.
This unlocks the higher level grades for many subjects. This is often particularly important in sciences and tricky maths!

Play the game. What do I mean?
Exams aren`t only factual recall or testing application, they`re a strategic challenge where tactics, organisation and “smart” revision is rewarded. Too often, students receive grades they are not happy with, despite their hard work and continued “grind” starting long before exam season. Strategically approaching exams with an eye on exam technique and ‘playing the mark scheme’ has always helped me and my students get the best results possible.

Where applicable, coursework is a great way to boost your grade, if you get it right. It can give so much extra breathing room for the actual papers which usually give people most of the stress and anxiety!

My promise is:
- To help with understanding the fundamental concepts and theories and consolidate the foundations.
- To help unlock the top grades with strategic revision techniques.
- To work through mark schemes together so that the students know exactly how the examiner will look at their paper and how to make it easier for an examiner to award marks.
- To help with coursework wherever possible with a close eye on how the examiners actually mark them.

Willing to travel: 12 miles

Experience: - I set up a geography mentoring society with another student that is responsible for supporting 35 younger geography students with GCSE geography.
- I also ran a local programme for GCSE computer science students to broaden their technical interests with Arduino workshops and extended programming classes.
- I have done private tuition for GCSE students in maths, compulsory sciences (triple award), geography, french and Spanish. I have now also begun tutoring A-Level maths and geography locally.

Hussain is a very dedicated and amazing tutor. He has been of tremendous help to my son in preparation to his A levels and during the exams. Hussain is not just a tutor in Computer Science, he is a cheerleader and accountability buddy, giving a nudge to his students and helping them believe in themselves. I highly recommend him.

Submitted on behalf of my fifteen year old daughter whom Hussain tutors in Maths. "After ten school years of struggle, I am enjoying Maths for the first time. Hussain has been a breath of fresh air. He is unbelievably patient, which makes classes relaxed and informal. Even if I wasn`t learning so much, I would really enjoy them. The quality of tuition is excellent. Hussain explains everything step-by-step. He doesn`t assume anything. This is great because it teases out all the little gaps in my knowledge. I`m now understanding topics that we did two or three years ago where I never had any confidence. Hussain gives multiple examples too. So I really feel that I`ve fully understood what we are covering. Hussain also challenges me. When I`ve got a question right, he will still say "are you absolutely sure about that?" I`ve learnt to stand my ground where I think I`m right and it`s made a real difference to my confidence. I would highly recommend Hussain to anyone doing Maths GCSE."
