Information about Michael

Oxford University graduate and former university lecturer with twenty years experience in one to one tuition. I offer tuition in maths, physics and chemistry for A level, IB and GCSE.

I am a very experienced private tutor who has helped numerous students to understand maths and science and so get the best possible results in their exams. I now concentrate on one to one tuition which I find particularly rewarding as it is possible to get to know the students and see their understanding develop over time.

I have a degree and a doctorate in Materials Science, both from Oxford University. This is a subject which includes both physics and chemistry as well as quite a lot of maths, all of which I use in my tuition.

I worked for many years as a university lecturer teaching materials engineering to engineering students. My lectures were consistently highly rated by the students.

I enjoy one to one tuition because I can adapt my lessons to the individual student`s requirements and capabilities. I try to make the lessons interesting and enjoyable and students often comment how quickly the time has passed.

I have a keen interest in recent scientific developments and read widely to keep up with new findings especially in physics.

Availability: I am offering online tuition using Zoom, which works very well. I can also offer face to face tuition at my home.

I may be able to travel to students who live close to me. There is an additional charge of £5.00 to cover travel time and cost.

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: I have over twenty years experience in one to one tuition for A level, GCSE and IB. I have helped several hundred students to improve their understanding and confidence and so increase their grades.

I have a large supply of past papers which I use as the exams approach. I ensure I keep up to date with the frequent changes in the curriculum so that all the required material is covered.

Many of my students have continued tuition for several years and in some cases I have taught children from the same family for over ten years. Most of my students come from personal recommendations.
