Information about Rachael Mary
Hello potential tutees! My name is Rachael, i am 28 and live in central Leicester. I am a former academic scientist who is now studying on a graduate medicine degree. I am in my final year of medical training and I am due to qualify as a doctor in July 2018. With my previous degree experience, I have now been studying science at university level for a total of 9 years.
I can confidently tutor all aspects of biology at any level for all age groups. I have further specific expertise in human biology, medical sciences and anatomy aimed at degree level students. Additionally, I have several years of experience working with A level and degree students who wish to study medicine. I have guided my students to compile successful medical school applications and achieve highly in admissions tests (UKCAT and GAMSAT) for both undergraduate (5 year) and graduate (4 year) courses. As part of my medical school admissions tuition I also offer medical school interview preparation and perform "mock interviews" for my students to help them improve their chances of getting that all important offer!
Availability: Weekends and weekday evenings
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I first began tutoring science during the second year of my undergraduate degree in 2009 and expanded this experience through training as a graduate teaching assistant during my masters degree in 2012. I have tutored many first year university students in both specific subject areas in which they needed some extra help (including human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, genetics, endocrinology, immunology etc) or in general aspects of A level biology which they may have struggled with to help them keep up with their classmates. I have also been helping students with medical school applications since 2009 and love to keep in touch with my students who are now training to be doctors.
I do appreciate that every student will like to learn in a different way so i aim to be flexible with my approach. I know how hard it can be to get to grips with tough subjects and complex ideas and over the years i have developed several techniques to try and make things easier to digest. I plan quizzes to keep my students on their toes and have designed games, rhymes and even songs to help them retain difficult information. I want my students to learn as much as they can whilst also being engaged and enjoying the learning process.

The one a ession I had was great but I was really disappointed at not being able to arrange further and when trying to contact Rachel my texts and requests were ignored and I didn`t hear from her. Would have understood if it had been explained that she didn`t want to Tutor further but disappointed that I was ignored.
