After 24 years lecturing in an Further Education institution ([contact detail removed], last OFSTED Inspection rated `Outstanding`))and I am very keen to develop my career now as a tutor in further and higher education. I wish to use my experience and knowledge to help individuals improve their skills and understanding of the subjects and courses they are studying. I am very committed to helping students reach their full potential and I believe that my experience and determination will have a very positive effect on any student committed to their studies. I also feel very strongly that enjoying the subjects you study enhances your personal development as well as improving a learners chances of achieving. My own experiences of studying the disciplines above have been thoroughly positive on an academic and personal level and it is my determination to help every learner enjoy their studies and understand how important they can be to self, and wider, knowledge.

Availability: I have no particular time constraints on when I can tutor, at present.

Experience: I have 24 years experience in lecturing in Further Education. I have been teaching on Level 3 courses (A Level and Access) throughout this time whilst also teaching Level 2 (GCSE & GNVQ) courses on occasion. The ages taught by me range from 16 to adults as I have delivered the following courses Access To Higher Education (Humanities, Health, Law & Social Science)and A Levels as well as BTec (Health and Social Care) Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The subjects I have particular expertise in are A Level Philosophy (AQA exam board), Religious Studies (AQA & OCR)and Sociology (AQA) and have been course manager for all these courses at various times, for over the last 20 years. All these courses have consistently achieved above national average pass and success rates including above average high grades on most occasions. With extensive experience in one-to-one teaching, especially as a tutor, EPQ lecturer and course manager I feel this gives me a very strong background in tutoring individuals towards their particular educational ambitions and goals. As course manager I have many years experience of course development and have attended numerous exam board training sessions (AQA, OCR & Laser)as well as Post 16 Curriculum Support Groups. There are many other skills that I have developed over the past 24 years e.g. organisation of open evenings, interviewing students, curriculum development, liaison with other institutions, organising speakers, UCAS references etc. I can pass more specific details to you if requested. I am very confident that the lecturing skills & knowledge I have will help me to be a strong, effective and supportive tutor. I also have a great desire to pass onto all learners the enjoyment of learning the subjects I specialise in, particularly Philosophy, Sociology and Religious Studies, and how they can enhance self knowledge as well as a means to achieve excellent qualifications, as I believe that enjoying learning a subject is an essential part of succeeding in it.
