Information about Alex

NOTE: I will not be taking on any new students for the foreseeable future. Thank you.

Available to tutor KS3, GCSE, A-Level and Degree Level mathematics and/or physics in Oxford or Hungerford, UK. Keen to help out students of a range of ages and ability, from those simply looking to pass their exams as efficiently as possible to those yearning to extend their knowledge beyond requirement. I`m also happy to give advice on study & exam technique as well as help make those all-important decisions on what to study at A-Level and at university.

Tutoring mathematics and physics has long been a passion of mine, with more than three years of tutoring experience from the University of Oxford, the Disability Advisory Service, the University of Bristol (where I graduated top of my year), Debate Chamber Summer Schools, Greene`s Tutorial College and many independent one-on-one and classroom tutorials.

Few of us have access to all possible educational benefits through our schools, and sometimes a little (or a lot!) of extra guidance is needed. Whatever your preferred mode of learning is: online via Skype, Oxbridge tutorial-style meetings or working through problems recreationally, I can cater for it. My tutorials could enhance not just your grades, but your ability to deduce and discuss, to reason logically and convince others of your ideas. They could help provide the essential skills needed for the next stage of your education or perhaps even your career. They may even help you to view learning in a totally different light, whilst getting you those crucial extra marks!

Availability: Until Friday June 24, 2016.

Tutor Hunt, UK. In the past I have taught many students of varying ability and age in mathematics and physics one-to-one via Tutor Hunt. I`ve organised classes, Skype tutorials and written, set and marked my own problem sets for pupils within the remit of their examination requirements (2013-16).
Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. Tutoring classes of 8-12 3rd year undergraduates, this role involved group problem solving, managing submissions and relaying progress to the course director. I received especial praise for my meticulous, methodical and constructive evaluation of homework scri pts, as well as for my detailed and thoughtful reports (2014-15).
College Invigilator, University of Oxford (2015).
Debate Chamber, London, UK. Mathematics & Physics Tutor. In teaching undergraduate-level mathematics and physics to classes of 14/15 A-Level students, I improved my ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple yet engaging manner. After receiving overwhelmingly positive student feedback, I was recognised as one of the most highly ranked tutors in company history (2015).
Department of Mathematics, University of Bristol. I ran a 2nd/3rd year undergraduate workshop which required me to lead group discussions, address topical questions and answer e-mail enquiries. I also organised extra unpaid tutorials for struggling students, with fantastic reception (2013-14)
