Jianmei

My name is Jianmei and live in Preston, Lancashire. I have been a Mandarin Chinese teacher and tutor since 2000.

I moved from Beijing of China to the UK in 2000 and ever since I have been passionate about sharing my Chinese culture and learning about the UK. This leads to pursue a career in teaching Chinese.

I teach both adults and children in one-to-one or small group lessons. I also offer classes for people who take A-level and GCSE Mandarin exams. These lessons can be in person, or online over Skype/Zoom.

My style of teaching is fun, encouraging and immersive. I often incorporate aspects of your daily life in our lessons to make learning more relevant, memorable and useful. I love to use poems, songs, stories etc. in which you are familiar with and then translate them into Chinese as a fun way to memorise vocabulary and grammars. I also make videos and use them in my teaching. I believe a dynamic lesson can make the lesson interesting and at the same time, it improves your Chinese.

* Have you ever frustrated at your Mandarin pronunciation? Do you feel uncertain about some particles` uses? For example, "了;" . Do you feel depressed when you can not write Chinese characters correctly? No worries. I can work with you to solve those problems. My many years` teaching experiences can help specifically with issues you may have. I understand English and Mandarin are very different. I have tips and tricks to help you.
* I do lessons alternating between English and Mandarin Chinese for beginner and intermediate learners. I do lessons fully in Mandarin for advanced learners.
* I have a structured and fun way to help you learn how to correctly write and remember Mandarin characters.
* I have many years` experience teaching A-level and GCSE Mandarin.

⚫; Classes offered
* Kids classes. Mostly focus on creating a fun environment whilst learning Mandarin
* Secondary year students classes not focused on exams. A more relaxed class covers speaking, reading and writing.
* GCSE/A-level. These classes follow the exam syllabus. Can be a supplement to classes students have in school or I can help you prepare and take these exams if your school does not offer this.
* Adults. These classes are typically more tailored to each individual.
* HSK. Prepare for HSK exam with more focus on oral communication.
* Casual kids classes. Each lesson focuses on one short dialogue. Learn by playing games.
