Information about Helen
I am a qualified teacher of mathematics having worked in secondary schools in London and Cheshire. I have three children, my eldest is in his final year at Durham University studying mathematics, my middle child is soon to start a gap year as a ski rep whilst looking at options for the following year, whilst my daughter starts her A level studies. I teach from home in a dedicated tutor room and have many visual resources at hand to aid teaching as well as my computer which I also use. I am told that I am very pаtient, prоvide cleаr explаnаtiоns, and quickly grasp what it is that students don`t `get`. I aim to be prоductive and to ensure students leаrn tо think аnd wоrk independently
Availability: Daytime/Evening 5 days a week
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have extensive experience of 1-1 teaching both in school and as a private tutor. I have spent many years supporting students with difficulties in mathematics and as a consequence am very aware of misconceptions and gaps from early years learning. On the other hand I have prepared students for the UKMT maths challenges and am currently teaching IGCSE in Further Pure Maths. At A level I teach the Edexcel and OCR board and teach both Statistics and Mechanics. I also have experience of preparing students for the QTS numeracy test.
