Information about Jack
Are you looking for a knowledgeable and personable tutor to help you / your child through exams or their studies?
My background in Neuroscience and Biochemistry has developed my expertise in a wide range of scientific fields. I am an outgoing tutor who is very passionate about science and teaching.
During lessons I will make sure my students are fully engaged and understand the topic. This is important as it ensures true comprehension of the subject, rather than students simply parroting what I`ve taught them that lesson. Scientific ideas can often be hard to grasp when taught in a conventional fashion- I prefer to use visual aids, interactive problem solving and discussions (rather than lectures) to increase my student`s confidence and knowledge.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss how I can help you with your learning goals.

Experience: I am currently a commercial Scientist based in Cambridge working within the Biotech sector.
Prior to this, I was a Neuroscience research scientist working on Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson`s Disease. during my time as a researcher I realised that I preferred teaching and discussing science over the labwork.
During my studies, I was fortunate to be the learning community forum (LCF) representative for master`s researchers at the Queens Medical Centre Hospital. During this role, I was able to help colleagues voice their opinions and ideas on providing a more productive and beneficial training programme. Prior to this role, I was the Buddy Scheme Co-ordinator for the University of Kent. The scheme`s primary aim was to help new students settle into university life by pairing them with a suitable 2nd year student. I helped establish the new scheme through collaboration with the un ion and students. I was responsible for arranging the training sessions with colleagues for Buddy Scheme applicants.
I have tutored friends, family members and colleagues for a few years, however I am looking to start tutoring on a more consistent basis.
