Information about Sabrina
I have lived in London all my life and gained my Bachelors degree in English and Masters degree in Victorian Literature, from two University of London colleges. In addition, I have a CELTA from International House and a PGCE in Adult Education from Westminster University.
I spent eight years working in the Further and Community Education sector, and currently work for an online platform teaching 1-2-1 English to Spanish-speaking professionals in Spain and Latin America.
As I tutor, I cater to my students` individual needs, tailoring lessons and resources to suit their interests, skills and curriculum requirements.
Availability: Monday-Sunday, late mornings and evenings
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Over the last nine years, I have taught Functional Skills, GCSE, ALevel and Undergraduate English and English literature, as well as ESOL, EFL and Business English, to groups and individuals.
I have a special interest in teaching grammar, punctuation and essay writing, and can provide support to students who want to develop their critical analysis skills. Additionally, I have extensive experience helping second-language English speakers on courses which require advanced English skills.
With regards to ALevel and GCSE, my approach is skills-focussed. I make sure that my students develop a solid understanding of how to critically analyse both set and unseen texts, and can communicate their ideas in well-structured paragraphs. I also help them to hone their ability to write well-organised texts which are engaging, persuasive, and hold the readers attention way, so that they can not only take on the challenges of the English exam, but have the writing skills they need for other subjects and future studies. It is within this context that we look at the best way to approach exam questions.
I genuinely believe that this approach enables learners to be confident in dealing with any situation where they have to read for detail and write to convey complex ideas.
