I am currently a maths teacher in a local secondary grammar school teaching year 7 to 13. Prior to this, I was a Head of Maths as well as being a lead practitioner in other schools. I have 30 years of teaching maths experience in Bexley and Bromley schools.
I am aware of key topics that need to be mastered to achieve the highest possible GCSE grade. I would look to cover these topics as well as any particular topics students are struggling with. Examples are discussed to check understanding before we focus on tackling exam questions on that topic. Leading up to the GCSE exam we would focus on whole exam papers, identifying and addressing any weaknesses. At KS3 we would look at the foundations of maths needed to access the GCSE maths curriculum.
At any age my aim is to build up confidence within the subject to enable any student to reach their potential in the subject.
