Personal Information:

Hello! My Name is Mikey and I would like to consider myself a friendly, confident and open person who is able to adapt and cater to a student`s needs and particular learning methods fluidly and swiftly. My aim is to engage my student(s) in discussion, promote independent thinking and grow and develop the individual`s skills whilst maintaining a relaxed, optimistic and enthused atmosphere with a firm grasp of their key objectives and goals in mind.

The reasons behind my desire to tutor are, giving you the bare facts, that I have constantly reached the highest standard of achievement in academic and extra curricular endeavours and actively seek out and thoroughly enjoy passing the extensive knowledge received throughout on to others who are striving for their own achievements. I am equally excited to help the less academically able as I am to provide those searching for the top percentage of grades with a personalised and flexible tutorial scheme.

Availability: Online: 7 days a week over the internet with various interaction methods, preferably Skype, all year.

In Person: Cycling to your location or your own means of travel to mine. During term times located in Oxford and during vacation periods at my home address, subject to planned family holidays and dates which would be mentioned far in advance. Lessons would be planned around the needs and requests of the students as frequently or infrequently as required.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: My experience revolves around colleagues, friends and family currently.

The earliest tutoring and teaching experience I received was during school years at GCSE and peaked at A Level when, if single classmates were struggling, or even, as sometimes occurred, the whole class was having trouble with certain topics or questions, I would set aside time to help them, whether that be during school time or after school. This had a multi-fold benefit, most importantly the valuable expertise in teaching one on one and to small groups I gained, bolstering my knowledge of the subjects whilst learning many different avenues of approach and explanation to my peers, providing benefits for them by giving them a less formal, more personal level of learning that the lecturing by teachers at school cannot hope to achieve.

I have studied this method further as I have been on the receiving end of it in weekly small and one on one tutorial sessions in Oxford for several years, allowing me to experience the teacher and the student roles, furthering my knowledge of this vital style of learning.

Other experience gained is ongoing currently still and has been/is to various family members during their GCSE years and beyond, guiding them and primarily increasing their confidence and proficiency in whatever they may be seeking help with, similarly to how I would be expecting to tutor my students. As well as this, I frequently spend time discussing and explaining to members of my university course in my year and lower years myriad problems, simplifying complex and abstract concepts, to give better understanding and a better grasp of the subjects discussed.
