I am a 54 year old retired professional actuary with a first class maths degree. I am an experienced maths tutor (100 hours+) for students at both GCSE and KS2/11+ level. I have also been a tutor to actuarial students (which involves a lot of maths) in the past. I am extremely enthusiastic about both maths and teaching. I often hear people say they don’t like maths, lack confidence and struggle with it. That’s a shame because with the right teaching it’s a great subject and most people enjoy it.
My teaching style is to build up from the basics, ensuring a student understands and has confidence in the building blocks. Mathematics is all about learning basic skills and then constantly adding extra complexity as the student progresses. It is very important that they have confidence in their own ability and have fun with the subject before moving to the next level.
My aim is to give students both knowledge but also confidence so that they can approach the subject positively.
I cover all of UK GCSE, International GCSE (Cambridge and Edexcel) and KS2 levels. I can prepare students for each of the November (IGCSE), January (IGCSE) and May/June exam series. Cater for both schooled and home educated children.

Availability: I am available during the week and on Sunday morning. I do all tutoring at my house or on line. I am based in Sittingbourne.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Tutored a number of students for the 2019 GCSE (all Boards) in both Higher and Foundation. Also tutor at KS2/Kent Test level. Over 100 hours of tutoring since I started about 6 months ago. Prior to this I have tutored students through their actuarial exams.
