I have always been passionate about the French language from my first taste at primary school, through my university degree in French Studies and then several years working in France. Subsequently, I nurtured a love of the language in my own children, two of whom went on to study it to A level as well as spending time living in France and furthering their knowledge. I hope to transmit my enthusiasm for this beautiful language to my students – to encourage them to learn to love the sound and shape of the language. My youngest daughter is currently studying French GCSE so I have an up to date knowledge of the curriculum, the individual units taught and specific exam requirements.

I want my lessons to be fun and engaging while covering any problem areas that my students may encounter. Most of all I wish to build confidence in my students and help them to find strategies to develop their language skills. I will achieve this by making my lessons student-centred and flexible. In the first lesson we will discuss the student’s individual needs and aims for the lessons and assess their level of competence in the language. I will then build a plan based around the results, focusing on specific areas for improvement each session and with regular assessment of our mutual goals. I feel that some homework is useful in order to monitor progress and will be set according to the focus of each lesson.

I am happy to teach French and EFL at all levels from Primary to A level as well as adult learners, who need the language for business or pleasure. I can’t wait to get started teaching you!

Availability: I am available to teach daytime and early evening every weekday (Monday to Friday) and Saturday mornings.
I am happy to offer online teaching and when restrictions allow, to travel to students` houses or teach in my own home.

Experience: On leaving university I pursued a career in international marketing and advertising which enabled me to travel and live overseas and use my French in a business environment. Once I started my family, I assisted with language teaching in schools at all levels, as well as running fun French clubs. Recently I also qualified as a Level 5 English as a Foreign Language teacher with the aim of assisting students of all ages to improve their mastery of the English Language, particularly those living in the UK, for whom fluency in English will advance their education and career prospects.
